The owners of the Point Beach nuclear power plant continue to make improvements at the facility in Two Creeks, Wis. One-third of the fuel assemblies in each of the two reactors are replaced every 18 months. The refueling usually takes 30 to 40 days and includes a number of maintenance projects. American Transmission Co. of Pewaukee said upgrades to high-voltage power lines running through Sheboygan, Manitowoc and Calumet counties would cost up to $262 million and allow for increased power output from the Point Beach and Kewaunee nuclear power plants.
