MRC Global Inc. (NYSE: MRC) has snapped up a valve automation company - Odessa, Texas-based Flow Control Products, also known as Dan H. Brown Inc. - to expand its footprint in the Permian Basin. Houston-based MRC, a distributor of pipe, valves and fittings for the oil and gas industry, said it plans to continue operating Flow Control Products' business as an MRC Valve Automation Center.

A bill sent to the governor aims to provide $225 million to help Texas counties repair and maintain roads damaged by oil and gas production activity. Senate Bill 1747, authored by State Sen. Carlos Uresti, D-San Antonio, creates a Transportation Infrastructure Fund that will receive $225 million in general revenue, which is desperately needed by counties in the Eagle Ford Shale and Permian Basin regions, according to Uresti's office.

Locally based oil and gas exploration and production company Abraxas Petroleum Corp. said it recently sold several Permian Basin leases in Martin County for about $590,000. What's being offered consists of about 13,618 net acres, with recently monthly production reaching 343 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
