Kuwait: Kuwait's Central Tender Committee had issued a letter to the joint venture between Kharafi National of Kuwait and Malaysia's Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) to operate and maintain the Shuaiba North co-generation (power and distillation) plant in the country, The Star has reported. The dual-fired plant (natural gas and distillate) can produce around 780 MW of power and 45 million gallons per day of distilled water, TNB said.

Saudi Aramco has said its trading subsidiary for refined products has started commercial operations on January 1, Reuters has reported. Saudi Aramco Products Trading Co (Aramco Trading) will replace the Product Sales and Marketing Department (PSMD) in importing and exporting refined petroleum products, the state-owned firm said. Refinery Associates of Texas Inc., a fuels-brokerage firm based in New Braunfels, has won a $1 billion contract to supply aviation turbine and naval distillate fuel on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense. As a broker, Refinery Associates works with a network of refiners to procure petroleum products on behalf of clients.
