Although electricity supplies from nuclear power were resumed for the first time in two months last week, Hokkaido could face power shortages this winter if no local nuclear reactor is reactivated before power demand peaks. In Hokkaido, winter electricity demand is 700,000-800,000 kw higher than summer demand.
