The Hawaii County Council has given preliminary approval to bills that would amend how geothermal royalties are spent and require evacuation plans for geothermal power plants. West Hawaii Today is reporting that one of the bills would require royalties to be used only for geothermal-related issues, including air-quality monitoring and health studies.
