An all-electric car would surely save its owner a load on gasoline but what happens when it's time to replace the battery? Speaking at a forum on green technology this week, Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally said battery packs for the electric Ford EV cost $12,000 to $15,000, The Wall Street Journal reports. That equates to roughly one-third the cost of the car itself, which Ford is marketing for $39,200. The Ford EV is a direct competitor to the Nissan Leaf, which is manufactured in Middle Tennessee.
