Chevron Corp. will begin drilling its first gas exploration well off the southern coast of China before year-end, the Wall Street Journal reports citing a senior executive. Chevron (NYSE: CVX) will be joining Husky Energy Inc. and BG Group PLC, which have both found gas in the region recently. The well site is about 300 kilometers south of Hong Kong. It is one of several multibillion dollar bets on natural gas that Chevron is making in the Asian-Pacific region, where the growth of energy demand is expected to remain strong.
