Although higher oil prices have mitigated the effect of declining production, Trinidad and Tobago faces serious challenges stemming declining oil production. With the shale gas boom in the US not yet having the feared impact on LNG exports, the gas sector outlook is somewhat brighter over the short term but major risks loom.
